Candor is committed to making our founding year count — not just for us, but for our community.

We believe neighbors show up for one another, and that community is built on bidirectionality.

A man unpacks a can of tomato soup on a large table piled with donations like chips, bananas, and other pantry goods.

We believe that something as simple as candy can be part of a larger, more caring ecosystem.

Bags of food have been preassembled and lined up next to each other, ready for donation and distribution to those in need.

We believe support should circulate, not accumulate; that truly great businesses give as much as they receive.

These beliefs are at the heart of our initiative:

CANDY CAN DO GOOD

In our founding year 2026, for every Instagram follow, Substack subscription, and Google review, we’re donating $1 to local food banks - directly supporting New Yorkers facing food insecurity.

In celebration of our founders birthday, Jan 31, we completed our first donation before even opening our doors - $710 to the Clinton Hill Fort Greene Mutual Aid fund based on the 710 followers we had as of that day.

We’re committed to full transparency along the way. We’ll regularly share updates on where donations are going, how much we’ve raised, and the organizations we’re supporting — here as well as in our newsletter, so you can see the impact you’re helping create in real time. We shared the receipt for our first donation over on Instagram.

Our vision for 2027 and beyond is to begin donating a percentage of total sales to our foodbank partners 💌

Foodbank donation is just the beginning.

Here are a few other ideas we’re working on for 2026; stay tuned to watch them take shape!

Have an idea we should consider? Let us know here.

Calm Shopping Hours

Calm Shopping Hours are reservation-based windows where we intentionally limit capacity to ensure our immunocompromised and differently-abled neighbors have the safe and delightful experience everyone deserves at a candy shop.

We slow things down: fewer guests at a time, staff wear masks, and we offer the option to reduce sound and soften lighting as needed for the sensory-sensitive.

More to come on booking soon!

Hosting Specialty Retailers

Word-of-mouth recommendations and face-to-face introductions breathe life into community spaces.

We’re aiming to regularly host specialty retailers in our shop — local artisans without a storefront, and new-to-market wholesale or online founders who may never have one (but do want to meet their customers in real life!)

Know a brand or founder who’d be a great fit? Send them our way.

Local Watering Hole

A meeting place for walking groups or social clubs.

Our sidewalk tables bustling with foster dogs + interested adopters.

A post-pizza stop for a pre-teens birthday party, goodie bags waiting to be filled.

The options are endless!
